Mirror Project: Anniversary
Darn that Ike. He made me miss my photoblog anniversary. I started photoblogging on September 19, 2004. 4 years! I first started participating in Photo Friday in the spring of 2004 and decided to make a full time photoblog in the fall. The first event I went to with photoblogging in mind was the Ballunar Festival held on the grounds of the Johnson Space Center. You can see the very first photo I posted here.
I've had lots of homes for my photography including TypePad, self hosting with Moveable Type, Expressions and now Pixyblog. I've had two different names, Ars Nova and Photine. I've had ups and downs like every blogger does, questioning why we put all this extra work into sharing our vision when it would just be easier to post solely to Flickr. But I love photoblogging. I love having my own little space on the internet that showcases my work. I love that the need for blogging material gets me out of the house and out exploring my city on a regular basis. I feel that moving to weekly themes has really helped me focus my style, even though I'm still trying to figure out what my style is. Photoblogging is still fun for me and I look forward to many more years to come.
