This Week: The Panama Canal
This photo is looking towards the Pacific Ocean where there is a veritable traffic jam of ships that wait to go through the Panama Canal. It takes about 8-10 hours to cross through the country of Panama from one end of the canal to the other. You can see the strip of water behind this ship which is the other lane for vessels. Ships can go in and out either way so there is never a backup on just one side. You can view webcams of the canal operated by the Panama Canal Authority including two HD cameras.
