This Week: Hurricane Ike
This is the Chase Tower in Downtown Houston. The downtown area looked relatively normal, but I'm sure that is because I did not venture there until a week after the storm. You could see damage in various buildings as you walked around, but nothing as big as the block with Chase Tower. All those brown squares are plywood covering up blown out windows. The parking garage facing this side of the building also had all of it's windows blown out. The sidewalk around the building was roped off and when you looked down you could see shards of glass that didn't get swept up in the first few rounds of debris removal. Overall though, I was relieved to see my favorite part of Houston weathered the storm so well.
