This Week: Millennium Park
Can you tell that I am an architecture fan? I'm sure you can if you have been around this photoblog for any length of time. One of the things I was very excited about was to see my very first Frank Gehry structure in person. Gehry is controversial. Either you love his work or you hate it. I am in the love it category.
Pritzker Pavilion is a bandshell for outdoor performances. It has 4,000 fixed seats and room for another 7,000 on the lawn. One of the nice features is the way they set up the sound system. The speakers are hanging from the trellis and it allows for very precise placement of the speakers for the best sound without having the speakers obstruct the view.
I look forward to seeing more of Frank Gehry's work. The Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles is definitely on my list and I was surprised to find out that one of the new museums being built in Panama City is designed by Frank Gehry.
By the way, you can see Aqua there in the skyline. Buildings, buildings everywhere and they are all fabulous.
