This Week: Terra Cotta Warriors
Archeologists have just begun to scratch the surface on what is the Terra Cotta army. There are an estimated 7,000 soldiers and only approximately 1,000 have been excavated. They haven't even opened the actual tomb of the emperor yet. China is being very methodical in their procedures which is of course a good thing.
I am always interested how museums move priceless objects for exhibition. In another life I would study logistics because I find it fascinating. I found this video by UPS on moving the warriors from China to the first museum stop in California. While it is obviously Pro-UPS it is still interesting to watch. You can also see photos of the unboxing of one of the pieces in Houston in this Flickr set by the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
