This Week: Goliad Road Trip

One of my goals is to travel more around Texas and that led to this trip to Goliad.  I usually do not stop and take side trips during a road trip because I am not a big fan of driving long distances and usually just want to get to my destination.  I stumbled upon the Tee Pee Motel completely by accident.

This motel is located in Wharton, TX and was designed in 1942.  The tee pees are made of stucco and wood and each room has a different design.  They were restored in 2005 after being abandoned in the 1980s.  

This was such a fun part of the trip for me because it was a complete surprise.  I am going to work on not being in such a hurry to get to my destination and actually enjoy the road part of the trip.
